The town, located just east of the capital city on I-12, is rich in history and antique shops to continue its heritage. Within the 3 blocks, Antique Village has 25 antique shops, each unique on its own and one never finds two shops the same. More antique shops are located north of the city. The Antique & Merchants Association sponsors two festivals a year; Springfest, held the first Saturday in May and the Olde Downtown Antique Festival, the first Saturday in October. Main Street is closed to traffic and open to arts and crafts vendors, a children's fair, food, games, rides and entertainment in Train Station Park. An artist market is held the third Saturday of each month in front of the village shops. Antique and gift shop dealers travel to Europe for French and English merchandise and they search this country for American items, making for an eclectic mix from shop to shop, ranging from primative to refined gifts and collectibles to furniture, 18th century to the present. You will, however, always find hospitality and warmth wherever you go. Denham Springs is a National Main Street Community and is also the home of the Livingston Parish Community Choir, the Community Theatre and a Fine Arts Association. Come join us for a wonderful day. |
